1/2/2024 0 Comments Gaming highlights of 2023When the new year starts and another begins, and see awards and lists of best games of the year, ever since I was a kid, I would think of the choices I'd make and my favorites. As the years have gone by, it gets harder to really actually play said games the year they come out – maybe the last year I played a lot of them was 2004? Good lord what a year that was.
That said, I did play some things in 2023 and I suppose I'll just talk about it regardless of the year of release. I did play a few new ones, but only completed one – Super Mario RPG. Remakes are a little weird for me to talk about because, I mean, it's foundation in this case was set in 1996 without spicing too much of the original game up. It is a game I haven't played in close to 20 years, so I can say it aged like fine wine and as a remake, I certainly see myself preferring this version for a replay – the rearranged music alone made me fall right back in love with it, and all the little improvements and some updated battle mechanics (that did make an easy game already easier) spiced things up enough to be more fun. I also beat it in around 3 days not including deciding to spend a few work days just grinding in the evening like how I originally beat the game, with all my characters max level, which took maybe a couple hours? It's a short, fun little RPG romp that while it isn't my favorite in the genre as a whole, is easily my favorite in terms of Mario's outings, and with a remake of Paper Mario 2 on the horizon, my two top favorites out of what I've played.

well, while i remember, i guess i'll say a few things.
i actually constantly go through my thoughts on things on a level it's practically an essay of what i think of things. and i think about a multitude of subjects, mostly stuff i had experienced over the last year, almost obsessively. i really love sharing things but it rarely ever comes out as more than me mumbling to myself. and it's like i want to record myself doing it, but that's too much work... and then i forget about it as soon as i get on my computer where i could just type about it. 6/16/2022 1 Comment Starting a blog in 2022Well, obviously I started doing something. I actually have wanted to start blogging for years, but I'd fall off of it extremely quickly. I attempted something more serious back when I used tumblr, but I was never satisfied with anything I wrote. I had done a review of the RPG Maker game "End Roll" by Segawa, which I can't find, but the summery of it was I really really fucking liked it and I'm shocked it's not more popular, despite the plot feeling a bit awkward at times and the music not being particularly memorable. It's also free, translated by "vgperson", give it a shot.
But anyway, obviously, I want to talk about why I decided to start a blog now, and just various other things. And also a bit of a self-introduction to it. Just as a quick disclaimer, I'm not going to go into details into this game that I'd consider game-ruining experiences unless you want to go into it as blind as humanly possible. This is actually more aimed to express a brief recommendation for people to give this one a shot, and some other thoughts on visual novel games.
